Phase 1: Thorough Cleaning & Preparation

A meticulous cleaning process prevents corrosion and abrasive wear from residual contaminants.

1. Work Envelope Cleaning: Remove all chips and coolant from the work table, as well as from the X, Y, and Z-axis way covers and guards.

2. Tooling System Maintenance: Thoroughly clean the tool magazine, tool holders, and tool grippers (catchers) of all chips and oil residue.

3. Spindle Taper Care: Critically, clean the spindle taper of all debris and coolant. The spindle must be left without a tool holder installed for the duration of the shutdown to prevent taper distortion and corrosion.

4. Critical Component Cleaning: For extended downtime, perform a deep clean of the axis way covers, ball screws, and linear guideways to remove any hidden abrasive particles.
