Taikan Encyclopedia | CNC Auto Lathe: High Performance, High Precision, Low Noise

Table of Content [Hide]

A CNC auto lathe is an automatic machining tool controlled by a CNC system, offering high performance, high precision, and low noise. Additionally, there are hydraulic, pneumatic, and Swiss-type CNC auto lathes, all of which share a core feature: after proper setup and adjustment, they can continuously process the same product for extended periods.

Applications and Advantages of CNC Auto Lathes

CNC auto lathes are particularly suitable for the processing and manufacturing of precision parts made from materials such as copper, aluminum, iron, stainless steel, and plastic. They are used in various industries for mass production of parts, including those in instrumentation, clocks, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, eyeglasses, stationery, hardware, bathroom equipment, electronic components, connectors, computers, mobile phones, electromechanical industries, and military applications. This is especially true for complex parts. All controls in a CNC auto lathe are achieved through microcomputer programming. The machine uses either an operation panel with knobs or a button setting mode to select different program running modes and operational parameters. The control system features self-diagnosis and a comprehensive alarm function.

CNC auto lathes offer advantages such as automated processing, fast processing speeds, and the ability to complete complex parts in one pass. The processing precision is accurate and reliable, allowing for operations like turning outer circles, spherical surfaces, conical surfaces, arcs, steps, groove cutting, embossing, drilling, tapping, threading, and cutting to be completed in a single process.

What to Pay Attention to When Maintaining CNC Auto Lathes

The widespread use of CNC auto lathes significantly reduces the need for manual labor and improves production efficiency. However, when the machine breaks down, it often severely impacts production schedules, resulting in significant losses for businesses. Therefore, special care should be taken during maintenance:

    • When removing a circuit board from the CNC auto lathe, it is important to note the position of the cable connections to the digital record. For a fixed circuit board, ensure both the front and rear are properly handled, and remove the corresponding press-fit parts and screws. Parts and screws should be placed in a special box to avoid losing them, and everything in the box should be used when reassembling to ensure the assembly is complete.

    • The soldering iron should be easily placed in the front, away from the repair circuit board. The iron tip should be properly adjusted to fit the integrated circuits and other components, avoiding soldering bumps or defects.

    • Do Not Cut Printed Circuits Recklessly: Some repair personnel, having experience with home appliance repairs, may have a habit of cutting wires for inspection. However, many circuit boards in CNC equipment are double-sided metal-hole or multilayer boards, which are thin and densely packed. Cutting such circuits can make re-soldering difficult and the wire cutting can affect several lines working simultaneously.

    • Measure the resistance between the power supply lines. The measured value should be noted, and it should be measured twice with the red and black probes swapped as a reference.

    • Most circuit boards have a solder mask, so measurements should be taken at the appropriate solder points. Do not scrape the solder mask or insulation layers; only scrape the insulation layer at the solder points.

    • Do not replace components based solely on a "feeling" of failure. Some repair personnel may replace parts simply because they believe they are faulty without confirming the defective component, which can lead to misjudgments. The rate of damage to removed parts due to human error is also high.
